Julia Lakin (b. 2000) is an Illinois based mix media artist who blends abstraction with portraiture. Her practice centers around themes from her memories, traumas and fears. She constructs her works with multiple layers of unconventional materials to create a physical environment for these feelings to live in. She blends drawing, painting, and sculptural elements to create a unique blend of textures. Lakin received her BFA in Studio Art from Millikin University in 2022. She is currently a candidate for an MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
